Gelli printing has been a great microcosm of the Art Process - as any new technique you're learning can be . You play, experiment, debate your beliefs, wonder what others will think, tell yourself it doesn't matter . . . Gelli printing is 'low stakes' and it's highly experimental. It's hard to control so you're always getting surprises. This has allowed me to distance myself from expectations around skill which in turn has allowed me to put some distance between all the 'selves' I bring to the art process - something I needed to move forward.
